A CONSOLIDATED PROJECT

Consorcio de Jabugo, S. A., a company participated by Caja de Ahorros El Monte and the society Chemtrol Española, S.A., has just started a new project in the Iberian pork industry. Our factory, located in the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche, in the north of the Spanish Huelva province, is a processing plant with more than 9,000 square meters, with a singular architecture. The design keeps the typical features from the Sierra de Huelva: turret, tiled roof and traditional colors. This is very important for its integration in the surrounding area and nearby constructions, especially the one known as “El Tiro”, built by the renowned Seville’s architect Aníbal González.

In this first phase the company has already invested more than 900 million pesetas. The facilities comprise meat cutting plant, salting and elaboration plant, cameras, natural drying areas and cellars, along with stores, offices and others. Currently, Consorcio de Jabugo can process 20,000 Iberian pigs per year. This amount will be increased in next phases to be able to process as much as 40,000 Iberian pigs per year.
